ALISA ZUSIN'S PORTFOLIO

Columbia University
My experience at Columbia University was unlike any other. Only having a week, I didnt expect to complete as much work as I had done at NYU. I was completely wrong. Although at my time in Columbia I was working with a completely new medium, (oil paint), I was able to create 8 paintings what were up to par with my standards for my work as an artist.
Classes at Columbia
I took classes at Columbia right after my time at New York University. The sudden change of scenery was something that was hard for me at first, but it was quick to find a group of people that felt like family. My instructor at Columbia was Miguel, and he taught me to see painting in a completely different light. I had never worked in oil paint before, but being able to be so immersed in this craft made me learn so much in such a little period of time. I was able to make so much work when I had came into the class thinking I would only make one piece. Miguel was able to teach me how to paint in this new medium and become to comfortable in my style of art-making. I was pushed so out of my comfort zone to the point where I was able to become comfortable with the uncomfortable.
